Dear Customers,
We are delighted to welcome Becky Hogg as our Guest maker for the next few weeks. Her work is exquisite and we can’t wait to share it with you.
Becky’s interest in Embroidery was ignited in her early 20’s after completing her textile degree at Loughborough Art College. With a passion to further her knowledge of historical textiles and embroidery she embarked upon a three year apprenticeship at the Royal School of Needlework at Hampton Court Palace. The practical skills and professional practice acquired during her studies covered all aspects of hand embroidery and now form an important part of her work today.
Working for over 20 years as a professional embroiderer she now specialises in metal thread embroidery. The textures, jewellery like finish and the good old fashioned sparkle hold endless inspiration for her as an embroidery designer.
Becky endeavours to keep hold of the historic stitches and threads which are so key to this technique, but also loves to reinterpret the skills, keeping the embroidery fresh and contemporary. Stylising the design shapes to make the stitches come alive as well as adding interest with padding, colour and pattern are all important to the final outcome.
Through careful planning, all these things come together and are translated to produce workable embroidery kits suited to all levels of stitcher.
Each kit comes with everything to complete the design as well as an illustrated instruction booklet.
We really hope you enjoy this fabulous maker’s work and we will add kits online over the next few days.
Lots of love,
Sophie, Claire, Judith, Sue and Josephine xxxxx
